On a day where the government was keen to claim credit for helping people escape the fighting in Sudan, it insisted that its highly controversial illegal migration bill was compassionate. PGMcNamara reports.
MPs have spent the day debating and voting on the Bill and that process is just coming to an end. The Government has avoided any defeats despite strong opposition to parts of it from some high-profile Tory backbenchers.
