Pressure has mounted on ministers to adopt a digital ‘right to disconnect’, after remote working during the pandemic has left many feeling overworked and unable to establish boundaries between work and life.

Earlier this month, Ireland introduced a ‘right to disconnect’, which let employees switch off outside normal work hours. 35% of remote workers added that their mental health related to work had deteriorated during the pandemic, with 30% saying they were working more unpaid hours than before. 18% reported at least four additional unpaid hours a week.
