The Green and Labour MSPs banded together for a joint fact-finding mission to North Ayrshire's pioneering scheme to provide new parents with money-saving cloth nappies.

MSP Monica Lennon’s campaign to roll out free reusable nappies to all low-income parents has been boosted by a joint visit to a trailblazing scheme with minister Lorna Slater. .

In 2019, North Ayrshire Council became the first local authority in the UK to offer families birth-to-potty ‘real nappy’ packs. Shocking 2023 research by baby bank charities found 80 per cent of parents are being forced to restrict their babies to one nappy a day because they can’t afford to buy more.
