Barry Winders, an electrician at UCLan, made a phone call to the DWP on the day he died
A much-loved and devoted dad feared he was being "pushed out of his job" due to health conditions, including Long Covid, before he died.
In December 2022, his pain meant he struggled to walk long distances and went on sick leave again. In June 2023, he was told he needed to return to work and it was around this time he took an overdose of medication which his family suspected was deliberate.During the inquest at Preston Coroner's Court, Assistant Coroner Sian Jones read extracts from a family statement.
In their statement Barry's family described him as a "dad who could turn his hand to any DIY task". He "organised all the family holidays and the family has been left devastated by his loss".Here are some groups you can contact:Childline: Phone 0800 1111.
