Mugshot of 'loose cannon' who murdered Rico Burton released - as heartbroken family issues new statement
Arrogant and staring menacingly into the camera, this is the mugshot of the 'loose cannon' who murdered Rico Burton. Liam O'Pray's custody photograph gives some hint at his violent, swaggering nature.
The trial was told trouble began after a fight between the defendant's friends and Mr Burton's family and friends at the Goose Green area of Altrincham. O'Pray had been in one of the bars earlier that evening but was refused entry, later telling the doorman he would be back and 'cause him an issue'. “Rico was a friendly, kind soul with humour of a comedian, his smile would and could light up any room. He would give anyone his last £1 and worked hard within his job. He loved all kinds of music and going out with friends, to finish his day he would sit with his mum as he was her golden boy.
O’Pray has a previous conviction for possession of a knife, and had earlier been involved in an incident in July last year, in which he was stabbed in the hand. The court heard his partner messaged him after the incident in which she said: “Well you’re lucky you’re okay so just be good now please or you’ll end up dead or locked up.”
