The visitor centre at Dams to Darnley Country Park will cost more than £2m to build and is set to contain a player area as well as an outdoor classroom

A £2.35 million visitor centre at Dams to Darnley Country Park could open early in 2026 after the project moved another step closer. Plans for the centre include a play area, an outdoor classroom and space for street food trucks.

Last week, the City Region cabinet approved an outline business case for the visitor facilities and the use of £170,000 to take the project forward. Initial designs include a visitor centre, ranger’s office, public toilets, a covered seating and teaching area and a play area. Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week.

It stated housebuilding around the country park and the development of a new Balgray rail station, which is set to open in April 2026, present “a unique opportunity”.
