Mr Lewis, 63, who styles himself the Grand Enchilada, was said to be the political and spin guru behind Ms Mordaunt's 2022 bid to be prime minister. Following this month's disastrous set of local election results for the Tories, Ms Mordaunt, the MP for Portsmouth North, dismissed speculation that she plans to mount another bid for the top job.
