BREAKING: Multiple flood alerts issued in Greater Manchester following days of torrential rain - map of areas affected
The Environment Agency has issued an alert for the Middle River Mersey catchment, including areas near Bramhall, Stockport, Sale, Altrincham and Urmston. A second alert is currently in place for the Upper River Douglas, which covers areas including Wigan and Standish.

The alerts come following days of torrential rain across Greater Manchester. Gardens were left submerged underwater and some trains were also halted or forced to run at reduced speeds, causing further delays. Forecasters predict that weather conditions will be much calmer today .
