SAN ANTONIO -
The total solar eclipse is two and a half weeks away, and it's growing from an astronomical event to a musical event as well with numerous festivals being held across our area.
"Lots of music, lots of activities. Hiking, biking, mountain biking, yoga, workshops. And just incredible music from Central Texas and beyond," says Travis Sutherland, Founder of Utopia Fest. Utopia Fest is a festival held every year in the small town of Utopia in northern Uvalde County. This year, they're holding the festival the weekend of the eclipse on April 8th.
"We’re hoping anywhere between 20 and 40% increase in sales of goods," says Blanca Larson. Larson is the Executive Director of the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau. She is anticipating a large economic impact in the Del Rio area due to visitors for both the eclipse, as well as 'Eclipse Fest' that will be held in Del Rio that weekend. They are anticipating so many people that Larson is grateful Del Rio is not the only city in totality.
