Several law enforcement officers were shot at a scene in North Carolina on Monday, according to authorities.
Multiple law enforcement officers were shot Monday, April 29, 2024, in east Charlotte , N.C., the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department said. Officers from the U.S. Marshals Task Force were conducting an investigation in a suburban neighborhood when they were fired upon, the CMPD said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force was trying to serve a warrant "when they were engaged by active gunfire from a subject," thesaid on X, which is the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. Police said the officers who were shot were taken to an area hospital. Their conditions weren't immediately known.This is still an active scene," police noted on social media. "Please continue to avoid this area and expect major roads shut down in the area to expedite victim transport.Authorities did not say exactly how many officers were hurt."This is an active investigation," police noted.
