Mum-of-two claims petrol stations are 'sexist' as she can't grip pumps with her 'small hands'

She said: "I'd come back to the van having got out and filled up and when I got back in I was flexing my hand, like when you've been writing a lot, and I was like 'ooh actually that quite hurts'. "I said this to my partner and he kind of laughed it off and I said 'no really it hurts, you have to grip it really hard when you've got smaller hands'.Melanie said she's unsure whether discomfort while filling up petrol tanks is a widespread issue, but claims she's looking to buy an electric vehicle to avoid the issue in future.
For the London mum, the task isn't a huge issue as she can still lift the handle but she is worried for the people who are weaker and smaller than her."In the next five/ten years I'm considering getting an electric car - once I get one it won't be a problem at all.
