'Shannon had made so much progress and in the past five months this has been reduced to nothing and she is now back at square one and we have no idea how long it will take for her to get over this.'
A concerned North Belfast mum has condemned the Belfast Trust for allegedly failing to properly look after her teenage daughter with special needs.
Speaking to Belfast Live, Jeanna said she is "disgusted" with the treatment her daughter has received saying that it has "reduced years of hard work to nothing". "At the time a doctor advised that Shannon be put on anti-seizure medication, but this was refused by another", she claims. "The sedative also had the reverse effect on Shannon and instead of calming her down she was unable to sleep for three weeks."
"Then when she was finally placed into another unit for children with special needs, Shannon kept having unexplained injuries and needed to be taken to A&E."She continued: "Staff from the trust continued to tell us that they were trying to get Shannon placed in a specialist facility and told us that it could take months before a bed is available, however I have recently discovered that a place had been approved for her, but it was given to someone else without our knowledge.
