A mum has revealed her horror as her 16-month-old daughter was left with a nasty injury from exposed nails on a Blackburn climbing frame.
Willow-Grace was playing at Mill Hill Park in last Thursday afternoon , with her mother Ellie Marsden. According to Ellie, the youngster was on the park's apparatus when she "fell continuously on the ripped tarmac on the floor."
"I went over to the climbing frame and seen several nails sticking out. It could of been a lot worse, they was young boys on the park playing with no T-shirt on so if they had of fell onto this nail it could of been a bad outcome for them." She continued: "The day after I went back to see how the issue was resolved and they had cut the nail out the frame, however they haven't done anything about the missing planks of wood. Also, nothing had been done about the tarmac that was damaged on the floor either.
Tony Watson, Head of Environment at BwD Council: “We are sorry to hear of the injury that has been caused and hope the child gets well soon. We always take these sorts of complaints seriously and appreciate our residents informing us of damaged equipment in our parks. Our aim is to create safe, age appropriate playing areas so that children can enjoy the summer holidays whilst making the most of the borough’s facilities.
