Shipli Begum, 48, caught on fire after her home in East Ham, London went up in flames at around 1pm on Wednesday, August 28. Ms Begum ran into the street screaming for help before succumbing to her wounds, while her husband tried in vain to extinguish the flames, burning his hands in the process.
’ The circumstances behind the fire are still unknown, although a 55-year-old known to the deceased was arrested at the scene and remains on bail while police continue their enquiries. Neighbours described Ms Begum was a ‘very nice lady’ who was a ‘good person’, and said the family had recently moved to the area from Birmingham. Three fire engines and 15 firefighters attended the scene, along with police and medics.
