A mum has told of her shock after a surprise gift for her son's birthday was switched for a box of cereal. Kerry Edwards ordered the "expensive" VR headset from Amazon for Robbie's 11th birthday.
Ben was to get a drawing tablet while Robbie was getting the refurbished Meta Quest VR 2. The ordered items were sent to their home in Walsall then taken by the family to be wrapped at their accommodation and given to the boys on July 27. “When we wrapped the presents before their birthdays, we opened the box and realised it was a box of cornflakes. At that time, we couldn’t do anything.
Kerry said the incident was “cruel” given it was a special present for her son Robbie. She said: “The people who are swapping these items over for boxes of cereal, they know it’s for children and know how they live with themselves. Not many adults would buy these headsets for themselves. She added: “I have called Amazon nearly every day and I had been telling them to sort it out. I had to send an email with evidence. Even though I have done this, they have requested that I have to return the box of corn flakes. I can’t get my head around it.”
