Mum revamps kitchen with DIY splashback she made out of 1p coins
DESPITE the fact we almost exclusively pay for things on our contactless cards these days, we somehow still have a baffling amount of 1p coins gathering dust in our purses.
Although we might have enough 1p coins to substitute a tile or two, Emma and Stuart managed to save 6,500 after they committed to the project and plan to cover all of their kitchen walls. Explaining their technique, Emma added: "We basically cleaned all the coins, prepped the wall by cleaning it and filling and sanding any rough bits [on the wall] from the previous splashback."When placed together on the wall, the coins have created a stunning bronze, ombre effect.Credit: LatestDeals.co.uk
"I wanted a mix of old and new. We have ones as old as 1973 and we have some Spanish 50 cents and New Jersey pennies. I love just cooking and seeing a new one that I haven’t noticed yet."
