'My whole life has changed'
A mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer three years after her test results were wrongly reported as normal, a law firm has said. Louise Ingham, from Droylsden , Tameside , is unable to have more children.
Ms Ingham underwent a 'test of cure' smear test in August 2016, where a sample is taken following previous cervical treatment, her lawyers said. Mum-of-one Ms Ingham, 37, was diagnosed with stage 2b2 cervical cancer. Irwin Mitchell said that following her diagnosis, an audit of her 2016 TOC found the results had been misreported as normal, when in fact they showed high grade changes.
Ms Ingham underwent chemoradiotherapy and brachytherapy treatment, where a sealed radioactive source is placed inside the body. She has gone through an early menopause and is now unable to have more children.
