The mum of two has been living in a hotel for six weeks – but fears returning before the infestation is properly cleared
A mum and her two sons have been living in a hotel for six weeks after a rat infestation took over her home – but when she first reported the problem her landlord told her she was ‘hallucinating’.
“At first I just got told it was my own problem, deal with it. I tried to – but they just kept coming back and coming back,” she said. She has been living at the Travelodge in Altrincham with her two sons, 9 and 7, since the middle of the six week holidays. They are now back at school and Ms Leach still has a job at the Hideaway play centre in Partington – but as a single parent, she has struggled with the upheaval.
"Our operatives will be on site again within the next week and we would expect work to be finished in the very near future. Once this is complete, we will work closely with the resident to ensure she is happy with the outcome and if not we will look at alternative accommodation in the nearby area. We will continue support the resident and her family in any way possible until she can move back into her home.
