'I thought I was drinking too much coffee - but it was actually bowel cancer'

A BRAVE mum is warning others after she mistook bowel cancer symptoms for drinking too much coffee - and had to have her colon removed.

The 47-year-old had been ignoring some early warning signs and believed it was caffeine that was causing her bathroom troubles., including pain or extreme weight loss. The operation went ahead on Valentine's Day this year and two days later she took to Facebook to encourage others to pay more attention to "subtle changes in your health".

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK and more than nine out of ten cases those who are diagnosed are over 50.
