Amika Brown left 'absolutely traumatised' after letter from the Home Office arrived two weeks ago

A mother has been warned that she could face deportation from the UK, despite holding a British passport and having resided in the country for 22 years. Amika Brown, 41, was left "traumatised" after receiving a letter from the Home Office two weeks ago, threatening to revoke her British citizenship due to alleged identity fraud.

Despite providing evidence of her true identity, Mrs Brown is still awaiting a response from the Home Office, leaving her in fear that she could be "ripped away from family in the middle of the night".Mrs Brown expressed her distress, saying: "This has been absolutely traumatising. I am so stressed. I am terrified I am going to be ripped away from my family in the middle of the night. They are claiming that my identity is false - but I have all this proof of who I am.

Regarding the situation, Mrs Brown remarked: "What was so upsetting is it wasn't even a question of asking me to prove my identity. They accused me of fraud straight away. I am so anxious because I have seen people get wrongly deported before." Her journey to legal residency in the UK began when Mrs Brown shifted from Jamaica to the UK in 2002 at the tender age of 19 with a Visitor's Visa. Post-marrying, she solidified her stay legally in 2009, and by 2015 she had garnered 'Indefinite Leave To Remain' followed by settled status.
