Murder-accused nurse searched Facebook for parents of newborn babies after they died, jury told ➡️ Lucy Letby was involved in the care of three babies who collapsed within a week at the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester hospital
The nurse accused of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder ten others searched for the parents of alleged victims on Facebook in the hours after they died, a jury has been told.
A court order prohibits reporting of the identities of surviving and deceased children allegedly attacked by Letby, and prohibits identifying parents or witnesses connected with the children. Letby came on the night shift at 8pm and was designated to look after another child, named only as JE, in a different room to Child C, the court heard.
At 11.30pm, Child C collapsed and a “crash call” was put out for senior doctors who came to start resuscitation efforts.Despite extensive efforts at resuscitation, Child C was pronounced dead at 5.58am.Prosecution experts later concluded that although Child C had suffered some infection, it was not the cause of his death.
Letby was later interviewed several times about what happened to Child C and eventually admitted she was the only person in the room when he collapsed, the jury heard.
