Music industry says Starmer needs to cut deal for touring musicians as Oasis rule out European shows outside UK and Ireland in 2025

Restrictions on how many days musicians and crew can spend working in the EU, new visa and work permit requirements, and extra customs documents for instruments and equipment have increased touring costs and bureaucracy.But a Brussels leak last week suggested that the EU was “not prepared” to make changes to the post-Brexit EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement , which would ease some of the restrictions.
Bands that used to rely on merchandise sales to subsidise tours have now been hit by import taxes and restrictions on the amount of items they can take into the EU, Mr Martin added. “We need a cultural touring agreement so the next Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Adele and Stormzy can build an audience touring Europe and emerging acts can hone their craft,” Mr Kiehl said.
