Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly Twitter), has called for the release of Tommy Robinson from prison, claiming he is being silenced for telling the truth. Musk's statement has sparked controversy, with critics pointing out Robinson's conviction for contempt of court due to repeated false allegations.
The X owner has called for Robinson to be freed from prison by 'pinning' a message to the top of his profile and accused Sir Keir Starmer of failing to prosecute 'rape gangs'. The world’s richest man also accused the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, of failing to prosecute “rape gangs” when he led the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Musk posted on X: “Why is Tommy Robinson in a solitary confinement prison for telling the truth? Silenced , in which he claims that the courts have been politicised against those on the right, and described it as “worth watching”. Labour MP Stella Creasy lambasted Musk, saying: “Tommy Robinson is in jail for contempt of court because he repeated false claims against a Syrian refugee. “Its not a ‘debate’. Its a lie and he tried to use it to foment anger and hatred in our society for political gain. Elon Musk appears to be doing the same.” Robinson had been barred from repeating false allegations against then-schoolboy Jamal Hijazi, who successfully sued him for libel. The Solicitor General issued the first contempt claim against Robinson in June this year, claiming he “knowingly” breached the order on four occasions. Lawyers for the schoolboy previously said false documentary claims had had “a devastating effect” on him and his family and forced them to move home. The film remains pinned to the top of Robinson’s X profile, while he also repeated the claims in three interviews between February and June 2023., which concerned six further breaches, including playing the film to a demonstration in Trafalgar Square in central London this yea
