The drummer's last social media tribute to Chester Bennington and praise for Linkin Park's Emily Armstrong highlights a shared sense of loss and inspiration in the rock community.
One of the last poignant posts from the late My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar was a tribute to another fallen rock icon. Bob, 44, was discovered dead in his home on Wednesday, only a few years after Linkin Park 's lead singer Chester Bennington tragically took his own life. Chester was seen as an inspiration by thousands of artists, including Bob, who referenced him in his final social media post.
Bob's death was confirmed on Friday night after TMZ reported that authorities found him dead at his home in Tennessee just before Thanksgiving. Bob was last seen alive on November 4 and no foul play is suspected as none of his weapons or music equipment were disturbed. TMZ also revealed that Animal Control visited Bob's residence to remove two dogs after his body was discovered.
He played drums on MCR's 2006 album The Black Parade and contributed to their 2010 record Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Prior to the release of Danger Days, Bob left MCR to work with other bands and later announced his departure from the music industry to pursue a career in real estate.
Although MCR was scheduled to tour in 2025, Bob wasn't going to come back and reunite with the band. So far, Bob is the "the longest-tenured drummer in band history," according to TMZ.
