'My controlling ex-boyfriend treated me liked a prisoner - and destroyed my home when I told police'
A BRAVE mum has told how her controlling ex-boyfriend subjected her to psychological abuse – and then smashed up her home when she told police.
Carly says Garcia would spend hours in the pub and wouldn’t contribute to the cost or running of the house. He also began to influence the amount of contact she would have with friends and family.: “I knew if I didn’t just do what he wanted; it would cause a complication or a problem.” Carly grabbed her keys and locked herself in her car. She said: “He told me to get out of the car, if I was going anywhere I was going with him. That’s when I realised how dangerous the situation was.”
He pleaded guilty, and received a 24-month community order, 20 days rehabilitation activity requirement, 33-day building better relationship course, and 120 hours unpaid work. He also had to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.
