Now I'm trying speed dating, signing up with a dating agency - and just being social again
‘While most dating app users see getting multiple matches as a numbers game, I don’t relish in it at all’
In this virtual sea of so-called eligible bachelors, I’ve come across too many men who aren’t actually interested in getting to know me as a person – or any other women for that matter. While apps promise to be a safe environment for women, there’s very little you can do when you find yourself in this kind of situation. There is always a risk that the person you have been talking to online might be totally different in real life, both physically and mentally.
Society has definitely changed since the pandemic; the internet has taken centre stage and it is difficult to form relationships. I long for the days when I could meet someone organically, whether it was at a club or during a night out. People are now glued to their phones in social settings and few seem to appreciate the value of connecting socially.
I found myself shaking with anger and panic – he had just simply vanished into thin air. We hadn’t swapped numbers so I couldn’t text or call him.
