Alison Dodds dreamed of turning her life around
When two social workers headed to the home of Alison Dodds, they had good news to share. The 51-year-old, who had long battled alcoholism, had secured the place at rehab she desperately wanted.
Her killer, 20 years her junior and also an addict, was described by an ex as 'not the same person when he needs his next fix'. But as Alex Hindley, 35, was jailed for life for the murder of Alison, her sister Joanne spoke of her caring nature. Joanne said: "Alison died in terrible circumstances. Organising her funeral was something I never thought I would have to do."
Hindley's ex partner wrote a letter to the court stating he has 'a very nice side' when sober and not using drugs, but his habit got bigger and he ended up getting into trouble. "Alex on drugs is not the same person", she said. "He is not nice when needing drugs or waiting for his next fix, compared to how he was when he wasn't like that".
