A HEARTBROKEN mum has criticised medics after her twin girls died after being born at 22 weeks.Lucy Offord believes doctors could have saved her twin girls, after they died shortly after being born at 22 weeks and three daysThe 20-year-old claims her 13-week scan showed that her cervix was dangerously short.
After her twins died, Lucy spent three days with them in a bereavement suite thanks to a cuddle cot, allowing her to make memories with her daughters."I feel I was pied off because it was my first pregnancy and I'm young. At her 13-week scan doctors told Lucy she had a dangerously short cervix, but she claims they refused to perform a cervical stitch op because she was too young"They were both born breathing and I could see them moving about.
She said: "At the end of the day if a baby is born breathing the doctors still need to have a duty of care."But I wanted them to try and save my children and at the end of the day as a parent I should have the right to decide if I want my child helped or not. She has also claimed that part of her baby's placenta was left inside of her meaning she had to have emergency surgery."I was left with continuous heavy bleeding but was told that it was just normal.Lucy said she is only just starting to get over her trauma after her babies were born in May"I lost lots of blood and had massive blood clots. I was rushed to hospital and was given an internal scan where it was found out I still had attached placenta with blood flow in me.
