A Northern Ireland football coach has been accused of sexual misconduct towards a player, according to an independent investigation into abuse in women’s professional soccer in America.
The report from Yates was published on Monday and it stated that investigators, who spoke to over 200 individuals, believed the NWSL was “a league in which abuse and misconduct — verbal and emotional abuse and sexual misconduct — had become systemic, spanning multiple teams, coaches, and victims.”He was part of the USA’s World Cup triumph in 2019 as an ‘opposition analyst’ under then national team manager Jill Ellis.
“She said she deliberately wore layers of tight clothing that would be hard for Holly to get his hands under. “She remembers she tightly crossed her legs and pushed his hand away. Simon said she tried hard “to keep the peace and the balance and to keep [Holly] from getting mad.” “She said he then went into “coach mode” and told her that if it would help her focus on her soccer, he would stop; he just wanted to make sure she was playing well.
According to the investigation, the incident was part of a “pattern of misconduct” Holly allegedly engaged in at Racing Louisville. His term in charge at Racing Louisville came to an end in August 2021, with the club tweeting a short statement at the time on his termination ‘for cause’.
