While the humidity finally will ease today, another heat wave is in the forecast to start next week.
Severe thunderstorms influenced by the remnants of Hurricane Beryl could hit New Jersey on Thursday and Friday after a cold front eases humidity and high temperatures today. The northern half of New Jersey should see a half-inch to 1 inch of rain Friday, the National Weather Service said in its morning forecast discussion.
Ahead of the storms, Thursday will remain hot, but the humidity will finally ease. For the first time this week, there are no heat advisories or excessive heat warnings. Afternoon highs today will range from the upper 80s to low 90s. Saturday won’t be nearly as wet with most of the state winding up with about a quarter-inch of rain. Southern parts of the Jersey Shore could get a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain, forecasters say. Highs in the 80s are in the forecast.Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are expected to be blazing hot with sunny skies and highs in the 90s, setting the stage for yet another heat wave.
