“She’s my best friend. She’s my life... They don't know which way this is going to go.”
A daughter has spoken of her growing fear that her mum may not survive after she lost consciousness on a flight to a family holiday.
Kay, known by her seven grandchildren as ‘nanna Kay’, was rushed to hospital by paramedics as soon as the plane landed. Amy, a paediatric student nurse, said accommodation prices in the area have ‘tripled’ due to it being peak season. She claims that when she contacted On the Beach, the online travel agents which the family’s holiday to Turkey was booked through, she was sent details for hotel accommodation at a cost of £10,000. The 37-year-old declined saying she “does not have that sort of money”.
Amy explained that she only knows what condition her mum is in when she’s by her side in the hospital and that as soon as she leaves she’s left in the dark. Holding back tears, Amy said: “She’s on all the medication they can give her, it's just whether she can fight it . They tried to wean her off sedation yesterday before I got there but mum became agitated and they sedated her again.
Amy explained that her mum had an underlying kidney problem after suffering from sepsis last year but said she had been deemed fit to fly by her GP.
