The Post Office has apologised and said it is treating the incident as 'a matter of urgency'
A nan claims she was so upset she couldn't finish her shopping after she was turned away from her local Post Office. Deirdre Gray said she visited the Belle Vale Post Office, located inside Belle Vale Shopping Centre, on Friday, December 6 when she was refused entry. The 78-year-old mum initially wanted to withdraw money from her bank account. However, when she arrived at the Post Office, the pensioner claims she was approached by a worker who said she wasn’t allowed to enter the store.
Deirdre, who lives in sheltered accommodation, has been wheelchair dependent for 40 years now following a spinal injury that left her paraplegic - paralysis that affects the lower half of the body. She told the ECHO : “It really upset me. I told her I couldn’t walk, and she said, ‘Well, you still can’t come in’. 'I was arguing over something I couldn’t change. There was nothing I could do about it. I did nothing wrong and didn’t understand why I was in this situation.
