ZAMBOANGA CITY – A suspected drug pusher was gunned down by anti-illegal drug operatives when he allegedly resisted arrest or “nanlaban” during a buy-bust operation here Sunday, July 3. The fatality was identified as Reynante Cañete Alvarez, 54, fifth in the priority list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency .

Alvarez was reportedly shot by a PDEA agent when the armed suspect tried to resist arrest after the exchange of marked money and suspected shabu during a transaction.Operatives recovered 50 grams worth of shabu with an estimated street value of P340,000, marked money, a 9mm pistol, an identification card, a motorcycle, and other personal items.
