British supermodel Naomi Campbell is fighting a five-year ban from being a charity trustee, claiming a fellow trustee used a fake email to impersonate her during an investigation into financial misconduct at her charity, Fashion for Relief. Campbell denies any wrongdoing and seeks to hold those responsible accountable.

British supermodel Naomi Campbell is appealing against a five-year ban from being a charity trustee, alleging that a fake email was used to impersonate her during an investigation into the mismanagement of funds at her charity, Fashion for Relief. Last year, the Charity Commission , which regulates charities in England and Wales, disqualified Campbell and two other trustees following a probe that revealed serious financial irregularities.

These included the use of charity funds to cover Campbell's stay at a five-star hotel in Cannes, spa treatments, room service, and cigarettes. Campbell, at the time, expressed her 'extreme concern' over the regulator's findings, claiming she had 'put the control in the hands of a lawyer' and was not in control of her charity. Her appeal is now set to be heard in a tribunal on Friday, and Campbell aims to 'ensure that those responsible are held accountable and justice is done.'.Campbell's lawyers claim that documents submitted to the commission misrepresented her involvement in running the charity, pointing to evidence of a fake email account used to impersonate her in communications with lawyers. They argue that she was unaware of the allegations against her during the watchdog's inquiry and was denied the opportunity to respond. In a statement released on Wednesday, Campbell expressed gratitude for the tribunal's decision to allow her appeal, stating that the evidence she presented was 'shocking.' She vowed to 'shine a light on how easy it is to fake identities online' and prevent others from experiencing the same ordeal. Campbell insisted that she has always conducted her philanthropic work without personal gain and will continue to do so.In a social media post on February 6th, Campbell further elaborated on her situation, stating that she had won permission to appeal the Charity Commission's ruling. She emphasized that the original report was based on 'incomplete and inaccurate information,' and the discoveries made during the investigation had been 'disturbing and shocking,' leading the commission to agree to revisit the case. Campbell acknowledged the 'immense personal toll' of the situation but highlighted the unwavering support of her team and fans. She concluded by stating her intention to advocate for stronger protection against online identity theft, emphasizing that 'what doesn't break you makes you stronger.' A spokesperson for the Charity Commission responded to Campbell's claims by stating that they acknowledged the Tribunal's initial ruling and the judge's comment that Campbell would need to prove 'very serious allegations of wrongdoing' against a fellow trustee. They pledged to continue cooperating fully with the Tribunal throughout the process. It is important to note that while the disqualification order remains in place pending the outcome of the appeal, the September 2024 findings remain unaffected at this stage
