NASA says there are several radiation myths connected to the eclipse.
As millions of spectators across the U.S. gather to watch Monday's total solar eclipse, some are concerned over radiation, but NASA has debunked myths around the eclipse. The moon crosses in front of the sun during the eclipse, casting a shadow on Earth's surface that blocks out the light from the sun. Only the sun's outer atmosphere — the corona — will be visible during the peak of the eclipse.
Another myth debunked by NASA is the idea that pregnant individuals should not watch an eclipse. The space agency says it's related to the false idea that harmful radiations are emitted during a total solar eclipse. In addition to the electromagnetic radiation from the sun's corona, there's another form of radiation traveling from the sun to the Earth, the space agency explained.

NASA to Fly WB 57s During Solar Eclipse for Scientific ExperimentsNASA will be flying two of the three remaining WB 57s during the upcoming solar eclipse to conduct scientific experiments. The WB 57s are special aircraft that can fly above most of the atmosphere, allowing scientists to capture high-quality imagery of the sun. The pilots and sensor equipment operators on board have to wear special suits and be on 100% oxygen due to the high altitude. The planes will follow the path of totality and the timing and coordinates have to be precise. This solar eclipse presents an exciting opportunity for NASA to learn more about the sun and the universe.
