NASCAR officials said the condition of Kevin Harvick\u2019s car following last Sunday\u2019s Cup race at Talladega left them little choice in his disqualification.
After a photo-finish loss to Ryan Blaney last Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway, Harvick’s No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford failed post-race inspection and he was disqualified, leaving him with a last-place finish. The move left a bad taste after what had been a dramatic down-to-the-wire battle with Blaney for the victory, which would have been Harvick’s first in his final season as a Cup driver. Harvick was disqualified for a violation of Rule 14.5.6.
