NASCAR plans to introduce the use of an “option tire” in next month’s Cup race at Richmond (Va,) Raceway, Motorsport.com has learned.
Outside of wet weather tires that
did introduce the use of an “option tire” earlier this year in the All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. An official announcement of the move is expected early next week. issued a new aerodynamic rules package at the start of the year for road courses and most short tracks around one mile in distance in the Cup series.
