EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy takes on a new challenge as an eccentric teacher in the upcoming second series of the BBC comedy-drama Boarders.
Natalie Cassidy , best known for her role as Sonia Fowler in EastEnders, is taking on a new challenge as an eccentric teacher in the second series of the BBC comedy-drama, Boarders . The popular show, which follows five London students at the elite boarding school St. Gilbert's , will return for a second outing on BBC Three and iPlayer next month. Cassidy joins a stellar cast that includes The Traitors US host Alan Cumming .
Speaking about her role, Cassidy expressed her excitement, stating, 'I loved series one of Boarders and was so thrilled to be asked to appear in series two. There is such talent amongst all the cast and crew and I loved playing a very eccentric teacher. Don't miss it!' Cumming, who also expressed his enthusiasm, shared, 'I've always said that letting people know you are a fan of theirs is a good idea. And, so it was with Boarders. I mentioned this to the producers (who also happen to produce The Traitors), and very soon after, I found myself on the set having such a fun time!'Boarders creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor welcomed the additions to the cast, saying, 'Welcoming the fantastic Alan Cumming and Natalie Cassidy to St. Gilbert’s was an absolute pleasure and they were a joy to work with. I can't wait for viewers to see what they got up to on campus!' This marks a new chapter for Cassidy, who recently took an extended break from EastEnders to pursue other projects. While her character, Sonia Fowler, was recently cleared of murder charges in the soap opera, she now faces a new challenge with her sister Bianca Jackson's potential imprisonment. Season one of Boarders is currently available to stream on BBC iPlayer, with series two premiering on Monday, February 3rd
