It alleges between January 2019 and February 2022, 149 of the florist’s websites, and more than 7400 of its online advertisements made claims that misled the customers into thinking the company operated local stores.“Many consumers prefer to seek out local businesses to support, and many also wish to source the freshest flowers in a suburb close to the recipient’s address,” ACCC Commissioner Liza Carver said.
Flowerscorp fulfils orders Australia-wide for its network of subsidiaries through its 13 corporate warehouses and through several independent florists, an ACCC spokesperson alleged.
