As expected, Dirk Nowitzki, Gregg Popovich and Dwyane Wade were among the finalists named for induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023, thePau Gasol joined Nowitzki, Popovich and Wade as finalists from a vote of the Hall’s North American committee. Becky Hammon and Jennifer Azzi highlight the Hall’s finalists for the Women’s committee.
They all must get 18 of 24 votes from the Honors committee for induction in the Class of 2023, and inductees will be announced during the NCAA men’s Final Four. ESPN’s Marc Spears and Holly Rowe, and CBS Sports, were named 2023 Curt Gowdy Media Award winners in print, electronic and transformative categories, respectfully.Joining the Hall’s North American committee are Gene Bess, David Hixon, Gene Keady and Tony Parker. Marian Washington and Gary Blair join Hammon and Azzi to round out the Hall’s Women’s committee. Enshrinement is set for Aug. 11 at Symphony Hall in Springfield, Mass.
