There were over 40 transactions agreed to on the first day of NBA free agency. talkhoops grades all the deals – from the expected signings, to the biggest head-scratchers:
I can’t believe Curry essentially received a two-year deal for less than $10 million. The Mavs need defensive players, and Curry won’t give them that. However, he’s one of the best shooters in basketball, and he’s going to be a great floor spacer next to Dončić and Irving. Other teams should have been pining for his services. This ends up an absolute steal.I love this deal because I’m a big believer in the trajectory of Vincent. He was a necessary role player in the Heat’s run to the NBA Finals.
There’s still a lot of potential with Alexander-Walker, and the Wolves will get a chance to utilize his playmaking in a more fleshed out role. Sometimes you see overpays for a young restricted free agent like him, and teams are forced with a tough decision on whether to match the offer sheet. Not with Alexander-Walker. Really good deal to retain him.To replace Max Strus with a familiar face who played his best ball under Erik Spoelstra on a cheap two-year deal is a very good value for the Heat.
