The striker is set to leave the Blues after scoring just one goal in 32 games for the club
As Neil Maupay’s transfer to Marseille nears completion, the online troll has aimed a dig at Everton on his way out. The French striker replied to a Fabrizio Romano tweet, confirming the deal to Marseille is on, with a clip from the 1994 film The Shawshank Redemption . The clip in question is when Andy Dufrense, played by Tim Robbins, escapes the gloomy jailhouse, Shawshank, and removes his prison uniform in the rain.
Earlier in the week the former Brentford forward reacted to footage shared online of Everton supporters abusing players at Euston station. The squad were travelling back north after a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Maupay posted on X: “Imagine another job where it’s normalised to get abuse like this. Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best.
