No complaints were upheld
The majority of complaints made against Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner last year related to the speeding offences, she admitted to in court. Each year, the number of complaints received by Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner is set out in a report, alongside whether or not they were upheld.
The report for the 2022/23 year was presented to members of the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Panel at a meeting on Monday . This year's report follows a court case which saw Caroline Henry being sentenced for several speeding offences last July. The commissioner was caught speeding in a blue Mercedes and a silver Lexus with a personalised number plate at four locations in Nottingham in March, May and June last year. She was handed a fine of £490 on each of the five speeding offences she committed over the course of just four months.Ms Henry was also fined £2,450 and given a six-month driving ban. At Monday's meeting, councillors were told that 48 complaints had been received last year related to these speeding offences.
But none of these complaints were upheld, with the report before councillors saying: "The panel does not need to record a conduct matter if it has been, or is already being, dealt with by means of criminal proceedings against the person to whose conduct the matter relates." There were seven other complaints made against the commissioner last year, none of which were upheld.
The report says one complaint made "broad allegations against the commissioner, but no evidence was provided to support them." Other complaints were out of scope for reasons such as the fact that they related to operational policing matters.
