The research, which polled 2,000 adults, found 28 per cent have lowered their consumption in the last year, while three in 10 want to drink less during the summer
A recent study, which surveyed 2,000 adults, revealed that 28 per cent have reduced their alcohol intake in the past year, with three in 10 expressing a desire to drink less over the summer months.
Some of the methods adults have used to decrease their intake include choosing a glass of water over alcohol , switching to low and no-alcohol drinks , and having a glass of water with or after every alcoholic beverage. Richard Hall, managing director for the water brand, commented: "Over the past few years, we've noticed people taking control of their wellbeing, with upping their hydration being one of the key trends."
The study found that three in 10 respondents have noticed a growing trend towards mindful drinking, with 44 per cent stating it's now more fashionable to cut back on alcohol than it was five years ago. Additionally, 44 per cent of these participants expressed a desire to prioritise hydration. The survey, carried out via OnePoll, also discovered that 42 per cent feel pressured to drink alcohol at gigs or parties , or by their friends . An additional 14 per cent feel that modern societal expectations and social gathering norms put pressure on them to consume alcohol.
