Mayor Renato Gustilo and Police Lt. Col. Jesus Mesahon Jr., San Carlos police chief, witnessed the destruction of the confiscated open pipe mufflers at the City Hall grounds.

Capt. Ruby Aurita, spokesperson of San Carlos City Police Station, said the confiscation of the open pipe mufflers started in 2016. But, most of the confiscation was in 2020, she added. The confiscation and destruction of open pipe mufflers is in accordance to City Ordinance No. 16-11, which declares as ‘public nuisance motor vehicles that emit exceptionally loud, startling, and annoying noise which tend to affect public health, safety and peace, providing penalties thereto, and for other purposes.’The destruction of mufflers was done to remind the public to refrain from using illegal open pipe mufflers which may cause noise pollution, according to the local government.
