Gov. Roel Ragay Degamo of Negros Oriental province was wounded in an ambush on Saturday, March 4.
ILOILO CITY –
According to a spot report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, Degamo was ambushed at 9:40 a.m. in Barangay Nuebe, Pamplona, Negros Oriental. The report said armed men on board two Sports Utility Vehicles arrived and fired at the café allegedly owned by the governor where he was talking to constituents from all over the province.Pilongo wrote: “Abi nakog mamatay. Na ambush diri kay Gov. Lord, malooy ka. Tabange si Gov ma OK .”No official word yet as to his condition as of posting time.
Degamo was the latest local government official ambushed by armed men in the past few days, following Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr., Aparri, Cagayan Mayor Rommel Alameda, and Datu Montawal, Maguindanao Mayor Ohto Montawal.
