Neighbours living in a 'quiet street' have told of their fears after officers searched their garden following a violent attack. Retired residents in Cotgrave were left in shock as three police cars were called to reports a man in his 20s was assaulted in Grassmere.
A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, though it is not believed to be life-threatening. Nottinghamshire Police said detectives are investigating "what happened in the moments before, during and after this incident and urge any witnesses to come forward." Mr Peck, 76, added: “It is the first incident of this scale that I know of to ever happen here. It was a huge response from police. They cordoned off the street immediately.”
Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, added: “We feel very sorry for the man who is now in hospital. Sometimes I can hear police cars in the area but I have never seen anything like this before.”
