The tour began April 24 in San Diego and reunited Young, 78, bassist Billy Talbot, 80, and drummer Ralph Molina, 81, who’ve played together on and off since 1968. Guitarist Micah Nelson filled the slot previously occupied both by Nils Lofgren and Frank “Pancho” Sampedro, the latter of whom retired in 2018.
Among the shows affected by the postponement are visits to Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 29 and festival slots in mid-July at Rock the Park in London, Ontario, and Bourbon and Beyond in Louisville, Ky., on Sept. 19. Bryan Adams will replace Young and Crazy Horse at Rock the Park, while Bourbon and Beyond advised fans to “stay tuned” for news about a fill-in.The band’s appearance at Eddie Vedder’s Ohana festival in Dana Point, Ca., on Sept. 28 has also been scrapped.
Although the tour is paused, fans will still have new music to enjoy Friday when Reprise unveils, a collection of Young and Crazy Horse recordings from 1969. The 10-track set sports previously unreleased takes on “Winterlong” and “Come on Baby Let’s Go Downtown,” plus the original mono mix for the vinyl single of “Cinnamon Girl.”
