A RECENT opinion survey claims to show, per news reports, that in the May 2025 elections, seven out of 10 Filipino voters will oppose any pro-China Filipino candidate for national office.
The term 'pro-China' was not explained, but this is bad news for anyone who may be perceived to be running as a pro-China candidate. The reports do not say whether the voters interviewed were asked to choose between pro-Philippines and pro-China candidates, or between pro-China and pro-US candidates. But if the choice was between pro-China and pro-Philippines candidates, 10 out of 10 voters should have expressed support for the latter.
Thus, in our search for new political leaders to govern our society, our first concern should be to defend our primary values as Filipinos within the context of our relations with other countries, but not within the context of our relations with another country such as the US or China. Our aim should be to strengthen the moral, social, political and cultural fabric of the society by creating a totally incorrupt and highly efficient meritocracy.
Pro-China Nor Pro-US But Devotedly Pro-Filipinas
