Israeli PM is showing it suits him better to extend and expand the war than to end it

Netanyahu has authorised yet another round of talks on a possible hostage release deal. But it’s not clear why these will be more successful than the previous ones. Ominously, he did not declare “victory” after the assassination ofMoreover, he has continued to resist a US-urged post-war plan for Gaza involving the Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited self-government in the occupied West Bank.
